Gradpreneurs lead the way, bringing some Flavr to the e-business market
Flavrbox is a Bristol-based, social enterprise with a simple mission: providing the convenience and accessibility for people all over the UK to buy great quality food and products from an array of independent, British producers.
The e-business acts as an online marketplace for UK-based producers to exhibit their products and sell to customers visiting the website. The online nature of the business congregates all-year round accessibility and independent, quality brands – you wouldn’t have to take that trip to your local superstore and hope for the best!
Since the first day of their launch, back in November 2011, FlavrBox has been well received by the public; more than 50 people had registered as customers and the first purchase was made within the initial hours. With a total of 16 producers on board and a collective total of 200 plus products available for sale, FlavrBox has since then seen an increase in both customers, producers and products.
Seb Powell a recent graduate and one of FlavrBox’s co-founders explains: “We started FlavrBox because we love food but also because we wanted to do something to create a better (food) industry; a vibrant and diverse marketplace, based on principles of trust, transparency, fairness, honesty and mutual respect.”
FlavrBox is only just the beginning of a series of exciting ventures. Seb goes on to explain: “We’re currently exploring a number of exciting ideas to progressively create a better and simply experience for people. One of the initiatives we’re going to be focusing on for the next couple of months is a ‘tasting box’ scheme, the idea being to create a monthly subscription whereby once signed up, you’ll receive every month a box of treats from some of our producers.
Customer Reviews:
Paolo from Bath:
“I bought some coffee on Flavrbox and I must say, this was the best and greatest surprise: the coffee had just been roasted in Cornwall and was almost warm when it arrived … the coffee in the supermarket has been sitting there for weeks, you can’t compare one and the other. Flavrbox therefore came as white dove: I can now get my freshly roasted coffee delivered at work!”
Customer: Deborah from Bristol:
“It struck me as a wonderful idea from the start: a kind of digital farmer's market … I can't say I have any complaints (with my order): it was well packaged, exactly what I ordered, and it tasted delicious! As someone with a bit of web design experience, I think the design of your website is splendid indeed; elegant, without extraneous nonsense and extremely user-friendly.”
This is an exciting time for Flavrbox, so let’s show our support for these young Gradpreneurs who are making a difference. To find out more about how Flavrbox works, please visit www.flavrbox.com or connect with them on twitter @Flavrbox
